ABOUT US

Farmers Kevin and Laura have a true family farm, with all family members, including our seven children, participating. We are located here on the Colorado Plains in beautiful Lincoln County and boast majestic views of Pike's Peak on the horizon. We are dedicated exclusively to organic and sustainable practices.

Kevin is a fourth generation farmer in Lincoln County Colorado. He grew up helping his father farm some of the same land that he farms today.  He had always dreamed of carrying on the family tradition of farming and raising a family on the rural prairie.

Laura was born in New York and grew up in New Jersey.  While attending Rutgers University, she first learned about farming and interned on an organic farm at Rutgers.  During that internship, she decided that raising her future family on an organic farm was how she wanted to spend her life.

When Kevin and Laura married, they combined their farming dreams and moved to Lincoln County, Colorado.  Kevin started farming his own rented land in 2011 and has gradually increased the size of the farm. Together with help from his seven children and Laura, he raises cattle, wheat, millet, and other small grains on their farm, Sunflower Acres.

Kevin and Laura are both passionate about raising quality grains.  We are not legally allowed to use the o-word (organic) since we are not certified, but we follow organic standards. We do not grow GMOs or use any chemical fertilizers, insecticides, pesticides or anything else artificial.  We raise only what we would eat ourselves.

At Grains From the Plains, we offer our beautiful wheat, millet and peas directly from our farm on the prairie plains of Colorado to you the consumer.  We know that you will enjoy using our grains in your cooking and sprouting as much as we have enjoyed growing them for you.
